CCHP Prep Essentials: Navigating NCCHC Standards On Your Path to Certification - Recorded on June 14, 2024


This training seminar will review content of the 2018 Standards for Health Services for jails and prisons and the 2022 Standards for Health Services in Juvenile Facilities that will be covered in the Certified Correctional Health Professional exam. The Standards are the foundation of NCCHC’s accreditation program as well as the CCHP program. This seminar can serve as an overview course for those new to corrections, a preliminary study session for anyone preparing for future certification, or a final review before sitting for the CCHP exam. Tips on preparing for, studying for, and taking the exam will be shared.

About the presenters


Tracey Titus, RN, CCHP-RN, CCHP-A is the senior director of policy and accreditation for Centurion, LLC and has been a registered nurse for 33 years, with 30 of those spent in correctional health care. She is responsible for the oversight of the policy and accreditation and continuous quality improvement team, Centurion's policies and procedures, and monitoring performance with on-site service delivery based on contract performance indicators and national accreditation standards.

Prior to joining Centurion, she served as an HSA at a county jail then as Vice President of Accreditation for NCCHC, where her responsibilities included overseeing the accreditation program for nearly 500 facilities nationwide. She currently serves as an elected member of the CCHP Board of Trustees, the Vice Chair of the CCHP-A subcommittee and a member of the CCHP-RN subcommittee.  

 

Jeffrey Alvarez, MD, CCHP-P, CCHP-A is the chief medical officer for NaphCare. In this role, he oversees all clinical care, serves as the clinical liaison with the information technology department for NaphCare’s electronic health records, and oversees peer review, policy development, and centralized quality control and compliance with the company’s proactive care model, which is aligned with NCCHC standards. Board certified in family medicine, Dr. Alvarez chaired the 2018 revisions of NCCHC Standards, and is a physician surveyor for the accreditation program. Dr. Alvarez has also worked at a community opioid treatment center providing medication-assisted therapy to those suffering from substance use disorder.

Physicians: The National Commission on Correctional Health Care is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. NCCHC designates this Other activity (blended learning) activity for a maximum of 4.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

 

Psychologists: The National Commission on Correctional Health Care is approved by the American Psychological Association to offer continuing education for psychologists. NCCHC maintains responsibility for this program and its content. This educational activity has been approved for up to 4.25 hours of credit.

 

CCHPs: Certified Correctional Health Professionals may earn up to 4.25 contact hours of Category I continuing education for recertification.

 

Social Workers, counselors and others: When evaluating the presentation, select the “General” category, print your certificate, and use it to report directly to your certifying board.
