Update on Post-COVID Conditions for Correctional Health Care - Made possible by an educational grant from Pfizer

Since the novel coronavirus SARS-COV-2 was first identified to be circulating in the US on January 20, 2020, some of the worst outbreaks have occurred within state and federal prisons. Studies have shown that people in prisons during the pandemic had disproportionately high rates of COVID-19 infection and mortality.

Long COVID poses unique challenges for incarcerated individuals, adding an additional layer of complexity to an already vulnerable population. Practitioners need to be able to identify and understand the varied and sometimes subtle symptoms of Long COVID, especially when compounded by pre-existing health conditions prevalent among incarcerated populations. Long COVID can exacerbate existing mental health issues among incarcerated individuals, potentially leading to increased stress, anxiety, and depression.

Correctional health providers and correctional staff will benefit from this free webinar discussing the many considerations for identifying and treating long COVID.
